Disney Summer 2025 Beach Club Trip 16
Me and Tres and Mady went to Disney in the summer. I was out voted on where to stay. I wanted to stay at Polynesian, but they wanted to stay at the Boardwalk. Tres had always wanted to stay there. So they decided to stay there. I liked it because it was Disney and very close to the skyline and Epcot. It was kind of fancy and on the, “Boardwalk”. The only negative was that even though it says it’s on the boardwalk it’s a long walk to the boardwalk. But it was still pretty cool. They have a huge hot dog at a small food stand on the boardwalk so we had one of those, there’s also a dessert called “the kitchen sink“. It has three scoops of ice cream. It is at the “Beaches and Cream soda shop “at our resort. The ice cream is strawberry and chocolate and vanilla. It is topped with pineapple, strawberry and hot fudge. Peanut butter, whipped cream, Oreo cookies, a brownie, and assortment of sprinkles and morsels and cherries on top. It’s served in Mickey pants that are shaped like a sink. It was really good, but I can’t eat it by myself so I shared it with all three of us. We also met up with Scott Flenniken. He worked with me and his wife was the choir teacher at Fairmont junior high and Tressa’s great friend. She had passed of cancer, but her and her husband were big Disney people. So we met him for a drink one day. So we went to Hollywood the first day. We made sure to go to the rock ‘n’ roll roller coaster because it was the last chance we had to ride it since it was being changed to the Muppets roller coaster. Then we saw the villain show. It is new, but really cool. This trip we also made some time to meet some of the Star Wars characters. We met chewy and took great pics. We also took time to meet Goofy and Mickey and a bunch of Princess’s. Like Ariel and we met the Pixar characters. Since it was just us three we took our time with stuff. Kind of slowing down and cherishing being there. Oga’s Cantina was cool and I had a drink that was all bubbly. Kinda like the actual drinks in Star Wars. We did ride slinky dog and of course I didn’t even like it. I wish I liked the roller coasters because I always want to enjoy stuff with my family. We also did a character meal at Hollywood and Vine. It was low-key but cool. It was a buffet and Minnie and pals came around, Mickey too. I liked the relaxed atmosphere. We watched fantasmic and I always get that song stuck in my head. It’s great, but it’s just tough sitting in the bleachers so long. The next day was off to Epcot. One of the coolest things was Tres and Mady surprising me with the “Behind the Seeds“ tour at Living with the Land. That is one of my most favorite rides. You can take a tour backstage basically. Shows close up how they start the growing process and the hydroponics and the different bugs they actually raise that are good for your garden. You got a badge and the group was about 8 to 10 people and you met with a guide in a little room. She describes what we are going to do and see then we head out. We’re in the middle of plants and you can see people going by in the boats. She begins by showing small insects that pollinate and eat bad insects. Then we see small plants and she describes the planting and hydroponic watering system. We see a Mickey shaped black pepper plant and see these huge gourds grow hanging down from PVC. In fact, I built a couple of those when I got home. She described how the fish are fed and how they send them to all the different restaurants. We even ate one of the cucumbers. At the end, we got a selfie with her. It was a tremendous experience, especially with me being a big Garden guy. I cannot thank Tres and Mady enough. They said it all up. Thank you, thank you. While at Hollywood the day before one of the new things I experienced was the frozen sing-along show. It was so fun! It starts with two comedian type people presenting frozen characters. They do a few frozen jokes. Tell you about the show. Then when a character comes out that sings a song all the kids and people in audience sing-along. So I’m dumb and didn’t realize that that’s what sing-along meant. I thought it was the coolest thing. And then they pumped in the fake snow and it fell all over the ground. I loved hearing all those little kids singing, loud to all the songs. It got me pretty choked up. We were headed to Ohana that night to eat. Mady wanted to go by the golf course so we went there first. We bought some gear and looked around. Saw a great golf cart with Mickey on the front. Ohana was typical Ohana, just tremendous food. After that, we went to Magic Kingdom to ride a few rides and watched Happily Ever After. We had park hoppers so the plan was we could see it twice. The next day was Animal Kingdom and then Hoop Dee Doo Revue. We always get Kilimanjaro early in the morning because that is when you can see the most animals. It is Mady‘s favorite so it’s always great to see her reactions. We also saw the Festival of The Lion King, it’s also her favorite and it’s a cool show. We usually leave early and get to Hoop Dee Doo early. This year I noticed the new resort they’re building right next to it, it’s in the middle of Fort Wilderness. Hoop Dee Doo was great as usual. I always like wearing one of my favorite Disney Hawaiian shirts. Me wearing Disney Hawaiian shirts started years ago when I bought a Disney Hawaiian shirt at the Polynesian and wore to Hoop Dee. So ever then, especially since I’ve retired, I try to wear them at any dinner at Disney and when we go out at home. Magic Kingdom would be the next day we did Peter Pan, which is cool because we usually don’t ride it. But we hit the regulars such as Pirates, Tiana‘s, Haunted Mansion and all the rest. We ate at the Plaza which we hadn’t ate at in a long time. I had the burger, but also a big chocolate shake. Then it was time for Happily Ever After and sadness after because it was the end of our trip. The trip was good but different. Since it was just us three we kind of looked at it like Mady was a little kid and we kind of went and did what she wanted. We did everything a little slower and I saw all the things. But again it was just as magical has always. I’ve attached a couple videos.
Y’all be safe out there.
